Argentina Legalises AbortionÂ
Argentina becomes the first Latin American country to legalise abortion till the 14th week of pregnancy. The news brought joy and hope across the world.
The legislation was passed by the Senate, with 38 members in favour of the bill and 29Â were against it. As the legislation was announced, thousands of citizens erupted on the streets with green flags, which was the symbol for the movement. The passing of the bill is historic and revolutionary.Â
Reason- The Powerful Catholic Church of Argentina has criticised the bill, and have claimed that the practise violates the right to life. Argentina is the birthplace of Pope Francais.Â
Brexit Trade DealÂ
Good News for Boris Johnson and the United Kingdom. The Post- Brexit Trade Deal got approved in the UK Parliament. The deal was rushed within the parliament to close the chapter which had divided the country for more than four years. The House of Commons endorsed the agreement by 521 votes to 73 votes, and the deal was ratified on 30 December by the House of Chambers.
Farmer Protests
New Delhi Television (NDTV) filed a Right To Information (RTI), with a query over whether farmers were consulted before the creation of the three farm bills, which has been reiterated by the ministers from time to time. The ministry responded to the RTI stating, ‘no report’ to the question posed by the channel.Â
On other hand, in the latest meeting between the farmer leaders and the government, it has been reported that they might have found a common ground for resolving the issue.Â
