The Expectations from the Budget 2022-23: Economic viewÂ
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present the 2022-23 Budget on 1st February 2022. Here, we do a pre-analysis of the budget and what are the expectations of different sectors from the same.Â
Education Sector:Â
The pandemic revealed loopholes in the education system of India and to cover those the budget needs to focus on providing adequate funds to ensure accessibility, inclusivity and upskilling within the sector.
For Teacher Training
Accessibility of Tech devices- Many experts believe that the government should announce initiatives that can help students to access laptops and smartphones so that their education does not hamper.Â
More focus on the Ed-tech sector- Â The Ed-tech sector has gained a lot of traction with the advent of the pandemic. Given this, the Ministry of Education & Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology has been envisioning to work out a common policy to regulate the ed-tech sector.
Agriculture Sector:Â
India’s agricultural sector is estimated to grow by 3.9% in 2022-2023. So, the expectations from the Budget 2022-23 is to make a framework that can - boost farmers' incomes, encourage backward linkages to the farm and strengthen the cooperative segment under the Ministry of Cooperation which was set up in July 2021.
There are possibilities of increased agricultural credits which help in the adoption of new technologies and the allocation towards schemes such as the MGNREGS, fertiliser subsidies and extension for free food grains.Â
Healthcare Budget:
The healthcare sector is expecting the Union Budget to reserve at least 2.5% to 3% of India's GDP to make India face future pandemics and to tackle the current Covid-19 crisis.
The focus of the budget is expected to be towards disease eradication programs and strengthening the Atma Nirbhar program. It also sees stimulus packages to families impacted by the prevailing pandemic.
The Green Budget:
The Indian prime minister recently at the 26th Conference of Parties announced that India will achieve the net-zero target of emissions by 2070.Â
The upcoming budget is expected to incentivise environment-friendly practices. Moreover, Industry experts are also expecting attractive incentives in order to achieve the target.Â

The Great Resignation
The uncertainty throughout the pandemic led many of us to retain the jobs we didn't want or the jobs which did not do us right. However, in the year 2021, the tables turned and buzzwords like ‘The Great Resignation’ or ‘The Great Reset’ came into the limelight.Â
The person behind the term-
The Great Resignation is an idea proposed by Professor Anthony Klotz of Texas A&M University that predicts a large number of people leaving their jobs after the COVID pandemic ends and life returns to "normal."
The world saw this trend when in April 2021 4 million workers left their jobs. The same was observed in September and November 2021 as per the US Labour Department.Â
What is the driving force of the Great Resignation?Â
MIT Sloan School of Management conducted a study that brought into the limelight the reason why so many employees quit their jobs in 2021. The research indicated that more than 40 per cent of all employees were thinking about leaving their jobs at the beginning of 2021 because of the incorrect work culture. Other factors that contributed to the great resignation were job insecurity and lack of reorganisation, high levels of innovation, failure to recognize employees, and poor response to Covid-19.

The Russia and Ukraine conflict: Follow-up
Russia and Ukraine are in a war-like situation that seems to be never-ending. The recent developments have escalated the conflict, but it is not clear if the war is inevitable or there is still time to manage the situation in a diplomatic way.Â
Context- Russia has amassed 1,00,000 troops along the border and has denied that it is planning to invade Ukraine. However, this is an event of concern at the international level because of the global politics at play with major powers like NATO, the USA and Europe involved.Â
Recent Developments-Â
The Ongoing Discussion
Ukraine and Russia held talks alongside the representatives from Germany and France on 26th January 2022.
The discussion went on for more than 8 hours and was concluded in a way that both the parties agreed for a cease-fire (in eastern Ukraine) that was to be maintained in line with the accords.Â
About the accords-
Here, accords meant the Minsk Agreement which was written in 2014 and was signed by Russia and Ukraine to end the war in the Donbas region of Ukraine after Russia annexed Crimea.
Negating the Demands and its impact-
Russia had put forward certain demands to remove the troops from Ukraine’s border:
The demands included that Ukraine must not enter NATO and that the USA and NATO must remove their troops or weapons deployed to countries that entered NATO after 1997, which would include much of eastern Europe, including Poland, the former Soviet countries of Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and the Balkan countries.
The Response of NATO-
NATO has responded negatively and did not agree to any of the demands listed by Russia. In response to this, Russia also expanded their buildup with the troops in Belarus and the baltic sea.
