He has been charged for inciting the US Capitol riots and violence, his trial might begin after Joe Biden’s inauguration. Amidst this, there were also discussions and calls to remove him from the position of the President under Article 25 of the US Constitution.
Judiciary puts a stay on farm laws
The Supreme Court of India has put a stay on the three farm laws passed in the Parliament in September 2020. Well, both the sides are not satisfied by the ruling of the judiciary. The government thinks the court has overstepped the traditional doctrine of separation of powers. Meanwhile, the protesting farmers have accepted the ruling on stay put on the laws, but are not happy with the committee offered to review the bills. The Supreme Court said the committee is being formed "to listen to the grievances of the farmers and the views of the government and make recommendations", however the farmers claim that all the chosen members have supported and backed the government on the bills.
The Chief Justice of India mentioned during the hearing, “Why are women and elders kept in protest?” This has raised lots of questions and debates as women constitute nearly two-thirds of the workforce in the agricultural sector, as per a report by People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI).
