India-USA
US President Joe Biden attended a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence after landing in New Delhi for the G20 Summit.
The two leaders discussed a range of topics to strengthen the ties between India and the USA on the social and economic fronts.
The leaders encouraged and committed on efforts to continue transforming the India-U.S. Strategic Partnership across all facets of our complex global agenda, based on trust, and understanding.
A common focus exsited on shared values of freedom, democracy, human rights, inclusion, pluralism, equal opportunities for all citizens.
The leaders reaffirmed commitment to G20 and expressed confidence in the summit goals and advancing of Sustainable Development Goals, bolstering multilateral cooperation, and building consensus around inclusive economic policies.
The role of QUAD in promoting a free, open, inclusive, and resilient Indo-Pacific.
In Biden‘s commitment to inclusive and representative governance. He reaffirmed his support for a reformed UN Security Council .
Both leaders reaffirmed on role of technology in defining the strategic partnership and appreciated the efforts through the India-US initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET).
India- Bangladesh
On the same day, Indian Prime Minister hosted , Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to discuss potential bilateral areas of collaboration. Also, Bangladesh was invited as guest country to the G20.
The leaders signed 3 Memoremdum of Understanding related to finance, culture and agriculture:
Collaboration In Digital Payment Mechanisms: Aimed to make the financial transactions between the citizens of the two countries simpler.
Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) between Bangladesh and India for the period 2023–2025.
Cooperation in the Agricultural Research Sector was signed between the Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Delhi Declaration
G20 leaders have come to commitment and consensus on certain points of partnership and agreement.
Accelerate strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth.
Accelerate the full and effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Pursue low-GHG/low-carbon emissions, climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable development pathways by championing an integrated and inclusive approach. We will urgently accelerate our actions to address development and climate challenges, promote Lifestyles for Sustainable Development (LiFE), and conserve biodiversity, forests and oceans.
Improve access to medical countermeasures and facilitate more supplies and production capacities in developing countries to prepare better for future health emergencies.
Promote resilient growth by urgently and effectively addressing debt vulnerabilities in developing countries.
Scale up financing from all sources for accelerating progress on SDGs.
Accelerate efforts and enhance resources towards achieving the Paris Agreement, including its temperature goal.
Pursue reforms for better, bigger and more effective Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) to address global challenges to maximise developmental impact.
Improve access to digital services and digital public infrastructure, and leverage digital transformation opportunities to boost sustainable and inclusive growth.
Promote sustainable, quality, healthy, safe and gainful employment.
Close gender gaps and promote the full, equal, effective and meaningful participation of women in the economy as decision-makers.
Better integrate the perspectives of developing countries, including LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS, into future G20 agenda and strengthen the voice of developing countries in global decision making.
Action on Environment
Green Development Pact: It was adopted by G20 leaders on September 9, 2023, in an effort to hasten the actions required to address environmental and climate change challenges. The leaders' declaration stated that they would pursue environmentally sustainable and inclusive economic growth and development in an integrated, holistic, and balanced manner.
